Odor
The number one complaint we hear, especially about front load washers, is a mildew smell. The good news is this is preventable! We've outlined some easy steps you can do to keep the sour odor away!
Use the proper detergent. Modern machines require "HE" or "High-Efficiency" detergent.
Use the right amount of detergent. The recommended HE detergent amount is 2 tablespoons for a regular to large sized load.
Run a hot load last.
Leave the door open between uses.
Using tweezers or needle nosed pliers, clean the weep holes at the 6 o'clock position of the door seal.
Wipe the door seal (boot) between uses.
Filter
Are your clothes still very wet after a cycle? This could be from a clogged drain filter. If you have a homeowner accessible filter, we recommend checking and cleaning the filter every 3-4 months. Steps below may vary depending on model. Please reference your user manual for model specific instructions.
Remove the filter panel, usually found at one of the bottom corners of the appliance.
Drain the pump with the built-in hose into a shallow basin.
Unscrew and remove the filter. Keep a towel close by.
Remove any debris.
Soak the filter in hot water to help breakdown buildup.
Scrub the filter with a soft brush and rinse in warm water.
Remove any debris from the filter housing.
Reinsert the filter and ensure it is securely in place.
Leaking
Is your washing machine leaking? There are several components that can cause leaks, and some may require service, but below are some good places to start that may save you time and money!
Inspect washing machine hoses for drips at supply and at washer connections. Inspect for any bulges or damages.
Clean front door glass. Water tight seals can be broken with the smallest debris.
Watch and listen to a drain cycle to eliminate drain hose leaks and drain pipe overflows.
