  • Coils

The refrigerator coils are critical in your refrigerator's cooling system. They help to release heat as the refrigerant passes through them. Over time, they collect dust, debris, and pet hair, which can inhibit their operation and your fridge's performance. We recommend cleaning your refrigerator coils at least twice a year. Typically, the coils can be found on the bottom back of the refrigerator or behind the front kickplate. Consult your user manual for model specific directions.

  1. Unplug the unit.

  2. Remove the kickplate or back cover.

  3. Use a vacuum attachment and coil brush to gently remove all dust and debris.

  • Loading

Improper loading of groceries can effect functionality and efficiency as well.

  1. An overfilled freezer or refrigerator can lead to poor air circulation and uneven temperatures. The unit may have to work harder to get everything to proper temperatures.

  2. Avoid blocking air vents as this can prevent adequate airflow and freeze liquids.

  • Filter

Water and ice filters should be replaced, on average, every six months. Check your manufacturer’s instructions for specific recommendations and replacement information for your model.

  1. Avoid aftermarket filters.

  2. Flush approximately 2-4 gallons of water after replacing the filter.
